Job Description: 
Facilities Development and Management, Business Operations, seeks an Accountant Associate to perform entry-level professional detailed accounting assignments under the direction of the Business Manager Senior.
  
Essential Duties
The Accountant Associate will assist Accountants with a wide range of accounting activities.
•Process various types of vendor payments, purchase orders, and check deposits for the Business Manager Senior or as directed by the Accountants.
•Prepare detailed reconciliations of accounts and P-Card transactions.  Process online purchases using departmental purchasing card.
•Maintain detailed records, document logs, and track purchases.
•Data entry using on-line financial systems and Excel spreadsheets.
•Provide weekly and/or monthly reports in a timely manner to be reviewed by the Business Manager Senior or Accountants.
•Prepare various journal entries.
•Participate in all fiscal year end processing and meet deadlines accordingly.
•Set up departmental meetings to include scheduling a conference room and designated call in number for conference calls as needed.
•Approve transactions within designated limits.
•Monitor compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and university polices.
•Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, co-workers, and other interested constituencies both internal and external to the university.
•Develop customer service relationships with other campus departments and central administrative offices.
•Utilize excellent organizational and time management skills to prioritize multiple projects when faced with frequent interruptions and fluctuating workload with attention to detail.
•Maintain professional accounting knowledge by attending professional development training as assigned.
•Effective written and verbal communication skills.

DAYS AND SCHEDULE:
Monday - Friday 8:00AM - 5:00PM 

Minimum Qualifications: 
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field; OR, Four (4) years professional accounting experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
 
Desired Qualifications: 
Experience:
•with fund/government accounting
•in reconciling P-Card Transactions
•with on-line financial systems (Advantage, Data Warehouse, etc.)
•in preparing detailed financial/tracking
•in processing financial transactions (i.e., general ledger, track purchases, make payments, detailed reconciliations, auditing transactions, journal entries, cash/check deposits)
•in fiscal year-end processes

Demonstrated Knowledge of•MS Office (i.e. Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook)
 
Working Environment
•Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse
•Required to stand/sit for varying lengths of time and travel moderate distances to perform work
•Regular use of standard office equipment including, but not limited to: computer workstation/laptop (keyboard, monitor, mouse), printer, fax, calculator, copier, telephone and associated computer/technology peripherals
•Drives University vehicles

This position is located at the University Services Building, 1551 S. Rural Road, Tempe, AZ (on Rural Road south of Apache Blvd).

Must possess a valid Arizona driver's license upon employment and maintain throughout employment.  A Department of Motor Vehicle search will be conducted.  Post-offer of employment, selected candidate must possess an acceptable driving record which is 5 or fewer points in the most recent 39 month period from date of hire.
