Position Description:


Positions in this function maintain general ledger accounts and related activities for the production of financial statements and reports. Performs account reconciliations and analyses, prepares journal entries and reviews accounting classifications, in accordance with generally-accepted accounting principles. Analyzes and prepares financial statements, including balance sheets and statements of financial position. Involved in the monthly/quarterly 'close' process. Prepares documentation in support of external and internal audits.


Primary Responsibilities:

• Calculate, analyze and explain medical cost reserves for various products and lines of business.


• Calculate and book monthly journal entries for assigned medical costs to PeopleSoft general ledger and complete corresponding account reconciliations.


• Work with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements, enhancements and/or new medical costs into the existing process.


• Prepare and support internal and external reporting requirements.


• Assist in preparation of quarterly/annual audit and Bid support.

Skills / Requirements

Requirements:

• Advanced level of proficiency with MS Excel and Access pivot tables, formulas


• 3+ years of professional accounting experience- Must be general ledger experience with analytical capabilities in order to analyze the data and forecast medical expense reserves along with account reconciliations


• Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent degree required.


• Healthcare a plus
