Job: Actuarial Assistant (Level 5) - TCM
Jobing Description
This position will be on the TCM Valuation team. Initial responsibilities will include (but not limited to)
Calculates Statutory, IFRS and Tax reserves for both individual deferred and immediate annuities
Maintains the valuation and financial reporting process to comply with various state and federal regulations in addition to Corporate guidelines
Compiles, evaluates and certifies statistical data. Documents assumptions and/or methodology used in calculations
Assists in preparing the actuarial portions of financial statements or other documents (e.g. state insurance department filings, rating agency survey forms, internal management reports, etc.)
Ensuring data quality and valuation process/model integrity
Refining and enhancing valuation analytical tools and checking reasonableness of valuation results
May support the creation of modeling and valuation systems specifications, procedures, and other actuarial aspects of both valuation and financial projection models
Monitors and analyzes developments in actuarial techniques, laws and regulations applicable to company operations, and valuation of individual annuities
Participating in the efforts to expand valuation model capacities and developing processes for new products/assumptions
Serves as a key resource for completion of one or more major recurring projects during the course of the year
May supervise one or more employees

Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or related field and 3 years of relevant experience. In lieu of Bachelors, will accept Master's in a listed discipline and 1 year of relevant experience. Must have completed four actuarial exams.
Additional skills/experience
Ability to understand complex financial modeling; both asset and liability modeling experiences are an asset
-Valuation experience required; MG ALFA, ARCVAL or PolySystems experience preferred
Strong computer and analytical skills
Strong mathematical aptitude
Ability to learn new concepts quickly and develop innovative solutions
Strong communication skills

The candidate will be hired as an Actuarial Assistant (Level 5) or an Assistant Actuary (Level 4) based upon qualifications, skills, and organizational needs.
