Description

The Director of Finance is responsible for all financial and fiscal management aspects of National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) operations, including preparing the annual operating budget, conducting financial analysis and preparing financial reports, and selecting and implementing an effective system of accounting.

This position reports to the Executive Director and will:

* Develop and oversee accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and FASB standards
* Manage accounting and financial systems and maintain full and accurate accounting records
* Oversee and maintain chart of accounts; reconcile general ledger accounts; ensure timely payment of all invoices
* Establish and maintain internal controls to ensure compliance with financial policies and regulations
* Develop and implement purchasing practices and monitor the purchasing system
* Prepare annual operating and capital budgets and semi-annual budget updates with accompanying analysis
* Establish and maintain cash controls; oversee the cash management function, including banking relationship
* Supervise annual audit and preparation of Form 990 by outside accounting firm
* Prepare monthly cash flow forecasting and maintain a long-term cash forecast
* In collaboration with the human resources staff or consultant, oversee the payroll function
* Provide staff support for the Finance and Audit Committee of the NRMP Board of Directors
* In collaboration with the (outsourced) chief investment officer, monitor the reserve fund balance and investment portfolio

Maintain daily contact with NRMP management and NRMP vendors (payroll, accounting firm, human resources management organization); periodic contact with NRMP Board of Directors and NRMP (outsourced) chief investment officer.

Assume leadership of and independent responsibility for the NRMP financial management function, working under the direction of the Executive Director.

Requirements

REQUIRED:

Bachelor s degree in accounting, business, or finance; master s degree preferred.

10 or more years of experience with increasing responsibility for management and support of financial services in the non-profit sector.

Knowledge of business and resource management, computerized payroll and accounting systems, generally accepted accounting principles and FASB standards, financial reporting, and investment and cash management.
