Gasoline & Environmental Accounting Supervisor Job ID: 3408 Location: TX - Dallas Position Category: Store Support Center-Corporate Job Type: Full Time Education Required: Bachelors Degree Experience Required: 2 - 5 years Relocation Provided: No Position Description Position Description Manages and ensures the accuracy and integrity of the environmental accounting system and integrated gasoline system. Supervises the assigned accounting team to ensure the efficient, timely and accurate recording of accounting transactions pertaining to environmental remediation and gasoline. Recommends methods, designs supporting reports, documents new procedures for the department. Initiate, review and approve changes to gasoline inventory system. Implement policy and procedure with minimum direction. Resolve questions from Environmental Managers, External Consultants, Gasoline Managers, Pricing Analyst, Division/Zone Controllers, and Division/Zone Vice Presidents. Performs ad hoc financial analyses, using various sources of information as required. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Oversee the Environmental Liability/Receivable Accrual Reconciliation and review the reasonableness of associated Environmental Expense. 2. Oversee the Environmental Accounting Close process in the environmental accounting sub-system, SLEDS. 3. Hold monthly meetings with monthly financial meetings with Environmental Manager for updates, review and approval of the environmental financial lines. 4. Prepare monthly communications to 7-11 s VP Controller, Directors, and specific Financial Reporting, Financial Planning, Fuel Operation Directors and Managers. 5. Become proficient with Oracle Sales Analyzer (OSA) with respects to is functionality with SLEDS. 6. Oversees and maintains the gasoline accounting software to ensure integrity of accounting transactions and gasoline inventory values. Ensures the continual review of work processes. 7. Interviews, trains hires, coaches and conduct performance appraisals and progressive counseling as necessary, for Accounting Team Leaders and Accounting/Environmental Coordinators as assigned. Responsible for workload assignments and meeting department objectives with assigned staff. 8. Reviews the accuracy, completion of, and researches, resolves and follows up for internal control on trial balances, journal entries, financial statements and daily and monthly accounting reports. 9. Responsible for accurate gross profit reports. 10. Responsible for Monthly General Ledger to Sub-ledger gas tax account reconciliation. 11. Improve the efficiency of existing processes. Correct system problems and Test and Approve system changes. 12. Works with gasoline suppliers to resolve problems regarding data processed into the gas information system. 13. Monitors obstacles encountered by gasoline/environmental accounting coordinators to determine if process, procedural or system changes are required in order to ensure prompted and efficient identification of variances and recording of transactions. 14. Provides ongoing user support and training on gasoline systems. Develops processes and accounting procedural manuals. Provides training and development of staff. 15. Develop complex to routine ad hoc reports in response form the field, and various departments with in the company. 16. Responsible for reviewing and maintaining SOX documentation of controls for gasoline accounting and resolving all items out of tolerance. 17. Responsible for maintaining current the gasoline accounting transactions and resolving all items aged over 90 days 18. Review and Approve journal entries and general ledger reconciliations. 19. Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested by management Position Requirements Position Requirements QUALIFICATIONS: A minimum of 3 years accounting experience and a Bachelors Degree in Accounting. The successful candidate must possess effective verbal and written communication skills with many levels of management. The successful candidate must possess effective mathematical and analytical skills with strong PC, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook. The candidate must possess proven independent problem solving and task management skills and an understanding of accounting principles. PDI experience is a plus. SQL Reporting is a plus.
