POSITION SUMMARY:
The Administrative Services Division seeks a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist III to join our team. This position reports to the Payroll Supervisor and is responsible for the accounting and bi-weekly payroll functions of the Finance Department. The Payroll Specialist III position requires a great deal of responsibility and dedication, with an emphasis on the Financial Policies and Procedures of the Arizona Supreme Court. The successful candidate must exercise good judgement, be able to perform under strict time frames and with a high level of confidentiality, as well as, being highly motivated and well organized.

Other duties include: reviews and reconciles total salaries, employee related expenses, and payroll reports in both the internal (New World, Hamilton, WETR) and external (HRIS, AFIS) payroll and financial accounting systems; prepares bi-weekly payroll gross control reports and records payroll expenditure and encumbrance information in the internal accounting system; and makes adjusting journal entries for both the internal and external financial accounting systems to correct and/or update payroll charges to accounts. In addition, this position assists with specialty payroll functions at year-end processing, such as the annual budget processing; adjusts leave balances; verifies judicial certification for judges’ salaries; and assists the Auditor General's Office in the financial audits of programs and accounts, as requested.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two years of general accounting experience, involving the processing of payroll, accounting or related field. Directly related experience may substitute for the degree requirement. In addition, this position requires knowledge of payroll accounting; payroll information systems; payroll and budget reporting; payroll policies and procedures; and knowledge of federal and state tax withholding regulations. Also, this position requires excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills; strong detail orientation; excellent data entry skills; the ability to manage multiple projects, tasks, and priorities; and the ability to maintain confidentiality of highly sensitive matters.
