Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to work for one of the top law firms in the U.S.  Davis Wright Tremaine is looking for a Financial Analyst to join our team in Seattle.  

The Financial Analyst is responsible for the system setup and maintenance pertaining to timekeeper and client rate arrangements, reporting on and auditing rates within the billing system, and providing rate information to various teams within the firm. This position will work with the Billing team to edit and maintain the firm’s rates and with the Pricing team to identify pricing opportunities through proactive outreach to firm partners and clients. The Analyst will also work with Information Technology to develop and implement process and technology changes to streamline assignment of accurate rates to client work.

In this role you will:
  •  Serve as primary firm contact for attorneys seeking information about client and matter level rate arrangements
  • Proactively and independently identify opportunities for rate adjustments
  • Own the data collection, analysis, and communication portions of the firm’s annual rate setting process
  • Perform year-end rate reviews for all clients and billing attorneys and end rate exceptions when necessary; communicate rate negotiation outcomes to Accounting teams
  • Communicate changes in arrangements to Central Records and the Billing team
  • Provide assistance to internal clients regarding rate and pricing questions, including producing various statistical reports, Excel spreadsheets, and workflow schedules
  • Audit rates set at matter opening to confirm the rates conform to the firm’s pricing policy
  • Provide backup support to Pricing Analysts
  • Assist with other tasks and/or support as assigned
Join us if you have: 
  •  A Finance or Accounting Degree or relevant equivalent experience is required
  • 3+ years’ experience in an automated accounting department, preferred
  • A demonstrated high level of ability to use MS Excel, required
  • Knowledge of Elite Enterprise and/or Aderant software, preferred
  • A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail is required
  • Knowledge of Tableau, preferred
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; excellent customer service required
  • The ability to perform well under pressures of deadlines, heavy volumes, and requests
  • A demonstrated ability to learn new technologies quickly and independently
  • The ambition to be a team player and with the ability to work independently, with minimal supervision
  • Previous experience in a law firm or professional services organization, supporting a multi-office environment
Physical  Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; and occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
