This is an exciting opportunity to work for one of the top law firms in the U.S.! Davis Wright Tremaine is looking for a Financial Data Analyst to join our team in Seattle.

The domain knowledge you’ll need is in business intelligence and some accounting, though a little legal would be preferred.

  • You relish cutting through all the noise to highlight a few important insights in crisp and beautiful visualizations to tell a compelling story with data
  • You enjoy discussing with lawyers how law practices work and discovering the revenue levers of each one
  • You like to ask "why?" a few times before you say "okay!"
  • You enjoy digging around a database with SQL select statements
  • You eat ambiguity for breakfast and tenaciously own an issue until its fully resolved
What you’ll do:
  • Work with the accounting and billing teams to prepare month-end reports
  • Work closely with lawyers and staff to build ad hoc and periodic finance reports in Excel, Tableau, Power BI, d3, or PowerPoint
  • Develop systems to improve the budgeting process to both the law firm practice groups and functional departments
  • Get data quickly and efficiently from SQL databases
  • Develop an efficient system to intake requests for analysis, perform it, tell a clear story about it, and deliver it in a consistently warm and professional manner
  • Work with accounting to maintain the income statement and the GL
Requirements:
  • Humility, issue ownership, critical thinking, client service orientation, advanced quantitative skills
  • 3+ years in a role tasked with some kind of intensive analysis
  • 2+ years designing BI visualizations
  • Master-user of Excel and PowerPoint
  • Familiarity doing ETL and analysis of SQL databases

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
