    Responsibilities

    JOB DUTIES

    • Support the Technical Accounting team on US GAAP and SEC technical accounting issues by proactively monitoring the development of new and emerging accounting and related reporting matters, participating in the assessment of current and future implications, training & communicating with the businesses, countries and functional departments that are impacted, and providing support on relevant implementation plans
    • Prepare technical accounting guidance (and memos) related to complex transactions, variable interest entities, embedded derivatives, leases, new rule implementations, and business combinations
    • Support North America, International Operations and Corporate Controller staff and regional/business finance staff on accounting questions, guidance, and implementation of new guidance and development of new accounting policies and procedures
    • Support the continuous review and update of accounting policies, as well as working closely with GMF personnel globally, in reviewing existing policies to determine those requiring update, clarification, expansion, or modification
    • Support training of appropriate personnel globally on new policies and changes to existing policies
    • Participate in the identification, research, timely resolve and communication/training of the business, region or functional departments on accounting-related questions in relation to business transactions, ventures, and one-time unusual events
    • Undertake special projects and support Global Finance and Controllership initiatives, as needed
    • Lead and identify process improvement initiatives for the Technical Accounting team
    • Perform other duties as assigned
    • Conform with all corporate policies and procedures

    Qualifications

    Knowledge

    • Experience in US GAAP and SEC technical accounting and analytical skills, including ability to participate in the research and conclusions on complex issues when not covered in the existing rules and with a bias toward balancing accounting implications with business requirements
    • Researching and documenting accounting issues

    Skills

    • Strong written and verbal communications skills, including developing excellent presentation skills
    • Ability to work with a diverse group of people, within the Controller’s group and globally in-country – as well as at all levels (subordinates and superiors)
    • Possess a continuous improvement and problem solving mindset

    Additional Knowledge Skills and Abilities

    • Experience with a multinational corporation working with multiple locations,
    • Experience in automotive finance
    • Computer literacy, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Oracle, etc

    Education

    • Bachelor’s Degree Accounting required

    Experience

    • 2-4 years public accounting or industry experience required

    Licenses

    • CPA Certification Upon Hire required
