Position Title Budget Analyst
Position Summary:

Prepare and maintain financial analyses and reports from multiple sources that support financial reporting, budgetary control, and compliance with regulations and policies.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

* Under general supervision, supports the budget preparation process, both for the annual budget and quarterly re-forecasts.
* Maintains and has detailed knowledge of complex budget model; makes recommendations for improvements in both the model and the budget process.
* Performs budget-to-actual analysis, both as a part of standard monthly reviews, as well as on an ad-hoc basis.
* Serves as an internal consultant to provide analysis and other assistance to various administrative departments in the preparation of their budgets.
* Reviews expenditures and purchase requisitions; brings questions or items requiring additional review to appropriate management.
* Performs special projects, analyses, and reports, and makes related recommendations. Provides documentation, analysis and explanation to support financial information. Assists with documentation and implementation of policies and procedures.
* Coordinates with internal and external technology resources to design reports and systematize processes to minimize manual effort. Acts as a champion for improvements, coordinates implementations and testing.
* Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

This position works in a typical office environment. With or without reasonable accommodation, employees in this position must be able to sit and type at a computer terminal for up to 8 hours per day with appropriate breaks and perform tasks that require fine dexterity and repetitive motions using the arms, hands, wrists and fingers. Further details of the physical requirements of established essential functions for this position will be addressed/discussed during the interview process.

Basic Qualifications:

* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
* Minimum 5 years experience in financial analysis or reporting, including experience designing and utilizing complex spreadsheets.
* Basic understanding and knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Familiarity with non-for-profit organizations and Federal Uniform Guidance highly desired.
* Critical analysis skills to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial information.
* Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
* Experience with financial and ERP systems, to include running reports, understanding structure and exporting data for analysis.
* Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Positive attitude and customer-service mentality.
* Ability and willingness to learn, both technical subjects and organizational processes and culture.
* Ability to prioritize and organize workload with minimal input; experienced working on multiple deadline-driven projects.
