The Payroll Director will be responsible for elevating the payroll function at Nemours to a world-class payroll operation. The Payroll Director will lead the payroll team and oversee payroll, payroll accounting, payroll tax, payroll systems, payroll software and technologies, and the time management and accrual system for Nemours. The position will ensure that Nemours Payroll implements and sustains best practices in the execution of all facets of payroll responsibilities. As the most senior role in the organization whose primary responsibility is payroll and related activities, the position will interface with federal and state agencies as appropriate and manage a process to perform external and internal audits related to payroll, making sure that the payroll function operates with the highest level of integrity and adheres to all applicable company, legal and regulatory standards. It is the responsibility of this position to ensure payroll, through departmental structure, staffing, systems design, software deployment, workflows, automation, and system improvements functions at the highest level of efficiency and accuracy.


The position must maintain relationships and coordinate efforts, as appropriate, with other departments such as accounting, HRIS, IS, audit services, compensation, benefits and other parts of human resources. The director must ensure that associate payroll concerns are resolved in a customer friendly, efficient and timely manner. This position includes overseeing daily accounting and reconciliation relating to payroll expenses, balancing of GL with Accounts Payable, administering bonuses and executive compensation, termination benefits, and contribution calculations. The position will lead Payrolls participation in the ongoing ERP project, ensuring a successful implementation and effective use of a new enterprise payroll software. Accurate documentation, recordkeeping and reporting is another important part of the role. The payroll director needs to be able to prepare concise, complete payroll reports and share them with stakeholders as needed.

Skill / Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a business related field required. A masters degree in business or taxation preferred.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
  • 10 years of progressive payroll leadership experience.
