Job Description

San Diego Company is seeking a well organized individual with excellent verbal, written, and customer service skills to join the Finance Department as an entry level Accounts Payable Specialist. Reporting to the Controller and working directly with the Accounts Payable Supervisor, the Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for performing accounting and clerical tasks related to the efficient maintenance and processing of accounts payable transactions.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Review and verify invoices and check requests
  • Sort, code and match invoices
  • Process expense reports
  • Prepare and write checks
  • Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and issues
  • Correspond with program managers and respond to inquiries
  • Produce monthly reports
  • Assist with month end closing
  • Provide supporting documentation for audits
  • Will be backup person for front desk reception during breaks
  • Special projects as assigned

Qualification Requirements:

  • Ability to prioritize and manage accounts payables for multiple programs
  • Must demonstrate accuracy, attention to detail and high productivity
  • Able to meet deadlines
  • Able to maintain confidentiality while performing job duties
  • Good organizational, communication and interpersonal skills are essential
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
  • Non-profit work experience a plus
  • Must pass background check

Education and Experience:

  • One to three years of recent accounts payable or general accounting experience
  • Knowledge of accounts payable
  • Knowledge of general accounting procedures
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
