Job Description

Our client is looking for an experienced Construction Bookkeeper/Accounts Payable to manage their day-to-day accounting and finance requirements for the main and multiple sub companies. The Bookkeeper/Accounts Payable candidate should have excellent organizational skills, and accuracy. The Bookkeeper/Accounts Payable candidate also needs to have solid customer relations and the ability to communicate clearly. The ideal candidate for this position is a skilled multi-tasker, is reliable and is committed to consistently meeting deadlines. Must understand that this is a small office that is fast paced with high volume.

Responsibilities and Duties:
* Enter time sheets and produce payroll
* Balance and maintain accurate ledgers
* Coordinate checks and deposits
* Reconcile bank accounts
* Enter and pay vendor invoices
* Monitor A/R invoices and collect on unpaid balances
* Manage lien releases and preliminary notices
* Be able to track the monies moving through and within all accounts:
* multiple bank accounts with multiple banks, lines of credit, construction loans, investment accounts, & multiple other types of accounts & balances.
* Develop monthly financial statements, including cash flow, profit and loss statements and balance sheets
* Prepare quarterly and monthly tax returns (end of year taxes and financial statements done with outside firm), along with payroll, operating and business taxes
* Self-motivated with the ability to manage time and work with little supervision
Requirements for the Construction Bookkeeper/Accounts Payable Candidate:
* Minimum 2 years’ experience working full charge accounting position with accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, payroll and payroll reports
* Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
* Construction accounting experience is a plus
* Extensive experience with data entry, record keeping and computer operation
* BS or AA Degree preferred
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, and Excel a must, American Contractor software experience a bonus.
* Experience in services related to payroll such as writing checks and submitting payroll taxes
