The Tax Accountant in the Entrepreneurial Services Group prepares corporate, partnership, trust, payroll, sales tax, and individual tax returns.

Major Responsibilities

  • Understand general accounting concepts and procedures
  • Maintain client records and files using automated systems, e.g., record transactions, prepare general ledger and related journals
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annually complied financial statements
  • Perform attest procedures, including reviews and compilations of financial statements
  • Income tax planning for a variety of small businesses and individuals
  • Preparation of income tax returns for corporations, partnerships and individuals
  • Preparation of payroll tax filings, including research on payroll related issues
  • Identify and communicate accounting and tax matters to other engagement team members
  • Establish direct communication and working relationship with clients
  • Participate in the budget process for engagements
  • Identify and communicate performance improvement opportunities for the department
  • Plan and execute the day-to-day activities of small business engagements for various clients in accordance with RubinBrown Client Service Standards
  • Experience in prepare bank reconciliations and compilations, payroll taxes, and monthly accounting reports
  • Understand general accounting concepts and procedures


Strongly Preferred Experience/Background/Skills

  • Prior income tax preparation required, including partnerships, corporations and individuals
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word and Excel required)
  • Energetic, enthusiastic and willingness to take initiative
  • Ability to meet challenging client requirements and provide quality client service
  • Strong technical skills including the ability to effectively utilize technology and the commitment to learning in a technology environment
  • Utilize analytical and research abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills
  • Strict adherence to professional ethics
  • Ability to successfully contribute to the success of a strategic business unit of the firm

Preferred Skills/Experience/Background

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or related degree
  • CPA or working toward certification
  • Prior public accounting experience

Working Conditions

  • The typical office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Ability to work extra hours as determined by the workload and client expectations
  • Travel for this position will be minimal
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull up to 20 to 30 pounds
  • Ability to speak English to communicate with clients, team members, etc.
