Join the WakeMed Operations Center as a Manager of Payroll
Provide integral financial and payroll knowledge to the WakeMed System!

The Manager of Payroll will provide leadership and support to the payroll personnel and ensure accurate and timely processing of WakeMed payroll. This position will set departmental policies and procedures, establish and adhere to the departmental budget, establish annual goals and objectives for the department, and instruct all WakeMed personnel on payroll procedures. You will be responsible for the monthly audit of assigned balance sheets and income statement accounts related to payroll for all corporations in the WakeMed system. This position will be entrusted with providing accurate balancing information to the payroll system and maintaining the integrity of the liability reporting for all WakeMed corporations. This will be done through balancing the general ledger of the payroll system, auditing the general ledger accounts, and filing payroll taxes. The Payroll Manager will maintain working knowledge of payroll tax reporting requirements, wage and hour laws for employees, and IRS definitions of reportable income for W2 and 1099 reporting. This will also apply to knowledge of employee versus independent contractor determinations. As the Payroll Manager you will also be responsible for providing support on projects to management staff within WakeMed.

  • 5 Years Accounting or Finance experience relating to Payroll
  • 3 Years of Management experience required
  • 1 Year of Accounting and Financial Analysis required
  • Certified Public Accountant preferred


Work Schedule:

  • Hours of Work: Monday – Friday, 8 am – 5 pm
  • Weekend Requirements: As needed
  • Call Requirements: None
